Sherri Shepherd Tweets Outrage Over Trayvon Martin's Death

"View" co-host and "Dancing With The Stars" competitor Sherri Shepherd expressed her outrage regarding the horrific killing of Trayvon Martin, the teenager who was shot dead in Sanford, Florida in late February.

News of Martin's death exploded into the headlines this week when it had been reported that George Zimmeran, the self-appointed neighborhood watchman who shot Martin to death, had not even been arrested or investigated. Mainstream news outlets played devastating 911 calls, interviewed Martin's family members, and spoke with witnesses whose testimonies revealed there might have been significant failures on the part of Sanford Police Department. Public figures including MSNBC host Al Sharpton encouraged supporters of Martin's family to rally together in a call for justice.

With "The View" on hiatus this week, Shepherd took to Twitter to speak out about Martin. "Why hasn't George Zimmerman been prosecuted in shooting 15 yr old #TRAYVONMARTIN http://t.co/qhT19sOf THIS COULD BE YOUR CHILD! I'M OUTRAGED," Shepherd tweeted. She also asked her followers to sign a petition on change.org calling for the arrest of Zimmerman, warning that this tragedy could happen to other children.

Shepherd joins in a long list of celebrities and public figures who have publicly written and tweeted for justice for Martin.
