Pat Robertson Blasts Tebow Trade: Says If Manning Got Hurt, 'It Would Serve The Broncos Right'

Pat Robertson: If Manning Gets Hurt, It Would Serve Broncos Right

Apparently televangelist Pat Robertson does not agree with the Tim Tebow trade to the Jets and had some strong words for the Broncos over their decision. On Thursday during a taping of "The 700 Club," Robertson blasted the Broncos' Tebow trade saying it would "serve them right" if Peyton Manning gets injured.

"I think the Denver Broncos treated [Tebow] shabbily," Robertson said on the show. "OK, so Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he's been injured. If that injury comes back Denver will find itself without a quarterback, and in my opinion, it would serve them right." Watch the "700 Club" clip from Media Matters above.

Luckily for Manning, if he does get injured again, Colorado has very effective medical marijuana, as AP reporter Ivan Moreno tweeted:

And Robertson would likely defend Manning if he needed to use medical marijuana. Recently, and to the surprise of many, Robertson also called for the decriminalization of marijuana possession.

This isn't the first time the televangelist has come to the defense of Tebow. Back in December, "Saturday Night Live" did a sketch where a Jesus character told Tebow, an outspoken Christian, to "take it down a notch" and Robertson did not see the humor. The LA Times blog Show Tracker said the sketch was part of the "anti-Christian bigotry in this country that's just disgusting."

Robertson is no stranger to making outrageous statements. Earlier in March, when several tornadoes ripped through the Midwest, Robertson's theory on why the tornadoes arrived was simple: People just weren't praying enough.
