DIA Will Ask Voters To Pass Art-themed Millage Tax In Wayne County

A Millage For A Monet: DIA Seeks Tax To Boost Museum Budget

By Ashley C. Woods, MLive

A ruling by the Wayne County Commission expected next week is the latest step in the Detroit Institute of Arts' plan to put a .2-mill tax on the ballot for voters as early as the August primaries.

Museum officials hope passing a millage, possibly in exchange for free admission for residents, will help shore up the DIA's ongoing budget woes and pave the way for building a long-term endowment.
