Scotty McCreery, American Idol Season 10 Winner, Settles On North Carolina State University

American Idol Winner Picks A College

Scotty McCreery will be like any other college freshman in the fall, except he'll have a platinum-selling debut album when he starts at North Carolina State University.

McCreery recently won the award for best new artist at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and was the winner of American Idol's 10th season -- all before even graduating high school.

McCreery will pick up his high school diploma this spring and plans to go to college in the fall. The AP reports he was accepted to four colleges and settled on North Carolina State University in Raleigh.

"I grew up rooting for N.C. State, and that's where my dad went," McCreery, a Garner, N.C. native, told People magazine.

McCreery said he doesn't know what he'll study, but it seems like he might be thinking of boosting his music career from the business-side.

"Music I'm learning every day now," McCreery said, "from Brad Paisley on the road and different things. I think marketing would be a cool way of learning how to stay out there and stay current."
