Dr. Robert Ballard: Titanic Being Destroyed By Tourists (VIDEO)

WATCH: Man Who Discovered The Titanic Talks Saving It

Dr. Robert Ballard, the oceanographer who discovered Titanic's wreckage in 1985, is on a crusade to save the ship from illegal treasure hunting.

The wreckage is considered by Ballard's team to be a museum full of fine art, artifacts and priceless history- with no lock on the door.

With artifacts pricing from the hundreds of thousands, thieves have taken to the ship in search of treasure. The site has been all but stripped of historical items, covered in trash by visiting tours--not the way Ballard believes the gravesite should be treated.

His new show on National Geographic details his quest to memorialize the remains on the ill fated ship.
