'American Pickers' Find The 'Holy Grail' Of Motorcycles, A 1947 Harley Knucklehead (VIDEO)

The 'Holy Grail' Of Motorcycles On 'American Pickers'

1947 was the last year that Harley-Davidson used what later came to be known as the "knucklehead" engine. The following year, they switched to the Panhead engine, changing the look of the motorcycle. On "American Pickers" (Mon., 9 p.m. ET on History), the guys were excited to find a 1947 Harley Kucklehead motorcycle, dubbing it the "Holy Grail of motorcycles."

Mike and Frank offered the owner $25,000 for the bike, but he balked at it. He made a counter-offer of $40,000, which they read as more than just a guy playing hardball with them, though.

"That’s the ‘I don’t want to sell it’ price," they said. In their opinion, the guy was still emotionally attached to it, so it was better to leave the bike where it was, knowing that it's out there and in the hands of someone who cares about it.

Find out what they discover next on "American Pickers," Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on History.
