New Jersey Government Withdraws From Federal Lawsuit Against Environmental Protection Agency

Christie Administration Withdraws Charge Against Federal Agency

New Jersey has backed out of a federal lawsuit calling for tougher ozone regulation than what was implemented by the Bush administration in 2008, according to a legal document filed by Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa on Friday.

The group lawsuit -- which now includes 12 states, New York City and Washington, D.C. -- was first filed while Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine was in office. Gov. Chris Christie's administration withdrew on Friday, just as the case was set to ramp up again.
