Mark Zuckerberg Joins Viddy, Shares Clip Of His Puppy, 'Beast' (VIDEO)

Zuck Bares His Beast On Viddy

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has signed up for the video-sharing app Viddy, creating a sensation with his first clip, a 15-second shot of his puffball puppy, Beast.

Not surprisingly, "Zuck," as he calls himself in his Viddy profile, has drawn attention to the site, acquiring more than 3,000 followers as of press time.

But that's just a drop in the bucket. Earlier this month, The New York Times reported the app has been gaining some 300,000 new users every day, and Mashable wrote today that its total membership includes more than 15 million users.

Zuckerberg isn't the first marquee name to hype the app. Earlier this month, pop singer Shakira and companies founded by Will Smith and Jay-Z joined an already robust circle of support for the year-old start up, which is backed by $6 million of venture capital, according to The New York Times.

Zuckerberg's new membership led Mashable to speculate on the social media magnate's intentions, even as it acknowledged the CEO's public statement not to pursue acquisitions in the near future, which was posted to his Facebook profile. Viddy has been described as Instagram for video, since users can use a variety of filters on their 15-second uploads.

Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion in cash and stock earlier this month.

While no one can claim to know the mind of "Zuck," one thing is clear: His puppy sure is cute.
