Dick Van Dyke On 'The Doctors'

Dick Van Dyke's Longevity Secrets

"I like to have young friends," said Dick Van Dyke when asked how he has maintained such a youthful appearance and demeanor at age 86. The prolific entertainer has been in the business for nearly 50 years, and is perhaps best known for his roles in such beloved classics as "Bye Bye Birdie" (1963), "Mary Poppins" (1964) and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" (1968), as well as his self-named television show and "Diagnosis: Murder." He makes an appearance on "The Doctors" this week to share some of his longevity secrets.

Van Dyke points to his diet as a key to aging well; he also frequently engages in low-impact exercise to keep his arthritis in check. He advises others of his generation to "keep moving."

Perhaps most importantly, Van Dyke has kept doing what he loves -- he's part of a singing quartet -- and he still dances on occasion, as he demonstrates for the doctors in this video. Speaking of love, Van Dyke recently married makeup artist Arlene Silver, who was in the audience for his "Doctors" appearance.

Check out the video below for more of Van Dyke's secrets of longevity (and dance moves!):
