Jessica Simpson Baby: New Mom's Family Reacts To Birth

Jessica's Family Welcomes Maxwell

Jessica Simpson finally welcomed baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson into the world Monday. While it's the 31-year-old star's first child, younger sister Ashlee is mom to 3-year-old Bronx Mowgli Wentz. So, how did the Simpson clan react to the big news?

Aunt Ashlee Simpson tells People she's as smitten as can be with little Maxi, noting that Jessica has wanted to be a mother since childhood. "Bronx and I are in love with Maxwell already!" Ashlee says. And demonstrating that it's never too early to begin spoiling a beloved niece, Ashlee's already purchased a tiny Fendi dress for the little bundle of joy.

Grandpa Joe Simpson celebrated his first granddaughter by bestowing Maxi with a giant pink stuffed bear, according to Us Weekly. The fancy plush friend bore a price tag of $80.

And, according to Us Weekly, Jessica's mom, Tina, gushed that Maxwell "is so precious and peaceful."

Even Jess' ex Nick Lachey sent a big basket of gourmet pink-and-white cookies to her hospital room, according to HollywoodLife. We bet Simpson will return the gesture when Nick's wife gives birth in a few months (Vanessa Lachey recently told HuffPost Celebrity's Rob Shuter that she's in the second trimester of her pregnancy).

The gifts in Maxi's honor will likely keep coming, as they have for the other most-anticipated celebrity baby of 2012, Blue Ivy Carter.
