'Toddlers & Tiaras' Mom Slams 'Tanning Mom'

Patricia "Tanning Mom" Krentcil, who is facing a child endangerment charge for allegedly allowing her young daughter into a tanning booth, is now coming under fire from "Toddlers & Tiaras" mom Mickie Wood.

"Pageant girls are spray tanned to give them a little color," Eden Wood's mother tells me. "It is in no way, shape or form a mandatory part of pageantry. It is an individual choice each family makes. But let me make one thing perfectly clear, I have never witnessed a family have their child use a tanning bed."

"That is awful," added Mickie Wood. "People for whatever screwed-up reason choose wrong paths for their children and/or themselves. We simply have to do what we can to reach out and help people see that what they are thinking is warped and detrimental to their lives."

Authorities say that Krentcil's daughter, now 6, turned up at her elementary school in Nutley, N.J., with a sunburn on April 24, prompting a school nurse to ask how it happened before contacting local authorities.

Krentcil's husband has defended his wife, saying that their daughter got a sunburn from playing outdoors.

"If this mom thinks that tanning herself and her daughter to look like bark on a tree is going to make her a household name in the entertainment business, they are wrong," added Eden’s publicist, Andrew Sullivan. "Time and time again, you see moms pull crazy publicity stunts to gain the media's attention. Fortunately, they die down and they are forgotten."

"Eden, on the other hand, has become a name in the business for positive reasons," Sullivan claimed. "Her mother and her team are big reasons why we keep a clean, positive image."
