Baby Dolphin Born At Miami Seaquarium On Mother's Day (PHOTOS)

Miami Seaquarium welcomed a new dolphin on Mother's Day and he made his debut to the public on Wednesday.

The newborn calf has quite the Seaquarium lineage. The park reports that both his father, 35-year-old J.J., and his mother, 8-year-old Rioux, were also born at the Seaquirium.

The new calf is actually a third generation Seaquarium newborn as Rioux's parents Noel and Panama were born at the Seaquarium as well.

The yet-to-be-named calf is Rioux's first baby. See the adorable dolphin, which weighs around 40 pounds and is 4 feet long, at the Key Biscayne park's Top Deck Pool.

Another Florida dolphin had a rougher start to life earlier this week when it became stranded in the shallow waters surrounding mangroves after getting separated from its mother.

Dolphin calves typically nurse from their mother until they are 12 to 18 months old, so luckily SeaWorld in Orlando was able to rescue the newborn and bottle-feed it. See the pictures here.
