Bill O'Reilly, David Letterman Fist Bump On 'Late Night' (VIDEO)

WATCH: O'Reilly, Letterman Fist Bump

Bill O'Reilly and David Letterman shared an awkward moment when the latter tried to fist bump O'Reilly on Thursday night.

Letterman hosted O'Reilly for a cordial chat on his late night show. They discussed the mission to capture and kill Osama bin Laden. "It slipped lower and lower and lower on the Republican agenda, am I right so far?" Letterman asked. "I'm not sure about that, but SEAL Team Six got them under Obama," O'Reilly replied.

They continued to disagree, but Letterman attempted to smooth things over with a fist bump. "Come on, get in here again, come on Bill!" he cajoled. A less-than-enthusiastic O'Reilly reluctantly allowed Letterman to pick up his hand and forcibly fist bump him, rolling his eyes afterwards.

Later, O'Reilly brought up other points of criticism about Obama. After joking that he had evidence upstairs that proves otherwise, Letterman decided to try again. "Get in, come on, just get in," he insisted. O'Reilly finally gave in this time — with gusto.

The move could have been an attempt to re-capture some of the sentiment of their celebratory high-five in December, when O'Reilly said that the Iraq War "should not have happened in hindsight." That exchange was surprising, given that the Fox News host's previous appearances on "Late Night" included Letterman calling him a "goon" in 2009 and telling him that "about 60 percent of what you say is crap" in 2006.
