Is Kanye West blowing off work to be with Kim? That's what a new report in the New York Daily News alleges, anyway -- that the 34-year-old multihyphenated rapper has been falling short on scheduled gigs and performances to spend time with his much-publicized amour du jour, Kim Kardashian.
According to the source, Kanye was a no-show at a planned "surprise" club appearance at Cannes last Wednesday, where Yeezy debuted his new arty film, "Cruel Summer." Instead, rappers Kid Cudi and Big Sean performed without any sign of the rapper-turned-director onstage (the only "surprise" the crowd got was a brief appearance by Kimye, who departed shortly thereafter to dine at an intimate restaurant by the French Riviera). What's more, this isn't the first time that Kanye has faulted on a performance lately -- Big Sean replaced the rapper last-minute at a fundraiser party for Bronx Charter School for the Arts, hosted by Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, held at New York's Marquee club on May 2.
The power couple have been consistently seen together in public since April, dispelling some skeptics' notion that their coupling was a mere showmance. A recent study conducted by HuffPost Celebrity determined that Kim is actually more famous than Kanye, despite the hip-hop mogul's significant earnings (Kanye's $35 million to Kim's $18 million): the reality show star's double Twitter followers, a top ten "Most Powerful" Forbes ranking and a huge volume of Google search results make her the more instantly recognizable star.
What do you think, readers? Is Kim Kardashian a curse for her men, or are they responsible for themselves? And are you pro or con Kimye? Sound off in the comments below.
