WASHINGTON -- Capital Pride kicks off this week and runs for the next 15 days. With multiple events scheduled each day, from town hall forums to drag shows, parades to film screenings, dance parties to silent auctions, it's impossible to attend everything worth your time. In order to get a well-rounded experience, here are our picks for each day of Pride.
Wednesday, May 30
Heroes Gala & Silent Auction at 918 F St. NW
Set in one of the new Living Social spaces, this after-work gala offers a chance to honor Andrew Barnett, Eboné Bell, Michelle Benecke, Kevin Paul Platte, and Justin B. Terry-Smith for their work in the LGBT community. An open bar, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction make this event the clear pick of the day. 6:30 p.m., 21+, $50

Town Hall: LGBT Youth Homelessness at Hotel Palomar
The DC Center for the LGBT Community hosts this panel of specialists Amena Johnson, Brian Watson, Tre'ona Kelty, and Leandrea Gilliam about LGBT youth homelessness. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover
Friday, June 1
Pride Guide Celebration at Town Danceboutique
This Friday features the Men's Party for men and the Women's Party for women. This celebration is for everyone. 10 p.m., 18+, $5 to $10
Saturday, June 2
Screen on the Green & Picnic in the Park at Stead Park
A screening of the independent feature "READY? OK! Don’t break the rules, change them" and pre-screening entertainment and games from Team DC, a pleasant way to spend a Saturday evening. 6 p.m., all ages, $5 suggested donation
Sunday, June 3
Heart Throbs at Lisner Auditorium
A gay men's chorus tribute to teenage heart throbs. This is so much better than attending any concert of current teenage heart throbs. 3 p.m., all ages, $30, also June 2
Monday, June 4
"Melting Away" at DCJCC
The Breakthrough Performance winner at the 2011 Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival, this film is the first in the history of Israeli cinema to deal with a parents’ reaction to their transgendered child. 7 p.m., all ages, $11
Tuesday, June 5
Tuesday Night Bible Study at MCCDC
This weekly Tuesday Night Bible Study will focus on "What the Bible Says About Homosexuality." 7 p.m., all ages, no cover
Wednesday, June 6
Gaylarious! at Riot Act
This monthly showcase will have a portion of its proceeds donated to Capital Pride 2012. 8 p.m., 18+, $15
Thursday, June 7
Evening with the Mayor & LGBTA Politics Town Hall at Charles Sumner School Museum & Archives
A chance to speak with Mayor Vincent Gray on LGBTA politics. Following the discussion with be a panel and dessert reception. 6 p.m., all ages, RSVP
Friday, June 8
WildLife at Howard Theatre
A co-production beween Capital Pride and Brightest Young Things, this party will be everything you expect from BYT -- giant blown-up characters, giant characters on blow (maybe), good music, neon, etc. -- in a new forum. It's the first LGBT event at the Howard so it's unlikely that subtlety will reign supreme. 9 p.m., 18+, $20 to $30
Saturday, June 9
Capital Pride Parade at Dupont/Logan Circles
The flagship event for the two-week celebration, it's almost mandatory to attend. 4:30 p.m., all ages, no cover
Sunday, June 10
Capital Pride Street Festival
A giant street festival on Pennsylvania Avenue NW downtown that happens to be gay friendly. Family but not pet friendly, this event is estimated to be attended by 200,000. 11 a.m., all ages, $5 suggested donation
Thursday, June 14
Town Hall: Take Pride in Our Health at MCC-DC
One final outlier event, this forum will be a good way to end the celebrations, a reminder of the health inequalities in the LGBT community. 7 p.m., all ages, no cover
