Body Of Missing Assistant DA Found

The body of Richard Appleby, a former assistant district attorney of the Eastern District in Brooklyn, was identified on Monday after an unidentified woman found his body floating in Long Island's Little Neck Bay.

Police have been searching for 66-year old Appleby, who went missing on May 24 and was last seen at his Upper West Side senior home.

Appleby suffered from Parkinson's disease and had recently stopped his medication for the disease.

He worked as an assistant district attorney from 1974 to 1982.

Investigators initially looked into the case as a possible homicide, but officials from the Nassau County Police Department have since ruled out any criminality in Appleby's death.
