DC Improv Owner Found Dead

WASHINGTON -- Mark Anderson, owner of the DC Improv, was found dead in an Arizona hotel room Wednesday. Anderson was 60.

Anderson, co-owner of the DC Improv and the Tempe Improv in Arizona, had been missing from his Oklahoma City home since May 12. The cause of death is still under investigation, according to The Arizona Republic.

The DC Improv issued the following statement via its Facebook page.

We are deeply saddened about the news of fellow owner and friend, Mark Anderson passing. Mark opened The DC Improv in 1992 and we would not be where we are today without him. Our love and condolences go out to all those who were lucky enough to know Mark. He will be missed R.I.P.

The DC Improv is in the midst of celebrating its 20th anniversary "Summer of Celebration" series. Large theater acts that honed their craft at the Improv will be coming for special events through August. Jim Gaffigan and Bill Burr shows have been announced and have already sold out. The next announcement comes June 13.

Improv manager Allyson Jaffe has said that business will go on as usual.
