TSA Clears Luggage Room At New York Airport After Finding Grenade Replicas

Grenade Replicas Spark Panic At NY Airport

TSA agents found two replica grenades in a checked bag Wednesday at Greater Rochester International Airport, reports WHEC Rochester. Explosives experts were called, but the suspected grenades turned out to be replicas.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the New York airport's baggage screening room was temporarily shut down after agents spotted what they thought were live grenades.

An unidentified male passenger, who was en route to Atlanta, voluntarily turned over the items and was allowed on his flight.

In December 2011, inert grenades were found by TSA agents in a passenger's bag at New Jersey's Newark airport. It was also at Newark airport that land mines were discovered in a passenger's bags in early May of this year. Land mines were also found in luggage at Salt Lake City International Airport in October 2011.
