Joy Behar Heading To Current TV

Joy Behar is heading to Current TV.

The co-host of "The View" is taking her solo act to a new channel. Former Page Six columnist Paula Froelich was the first to break the news, which was later confirmed by the New York Times' Brian Stelter on Monday morning.

Current TV later sent out a press release, saying that the show will launch in September and will air at 6 PM. The program will be called "The Joy Behar Show."

The move gives Behar a new home after she ended her HLN show in November, reportedly unhappy with the network's unceasing focus on crime stories.

In addition to Behar, Current TV announced the addition of radio hosts Bill Press and Stephanie Miller to its morning line up in March. In October 2011, the network signed former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, who hosts the prime time show called "The War Room With Jennifer Granholm." One month earlier, the network announced that former MSNBC host Cenk Uygur would bring his Internet show, "The Young Turks," to Current TV.

Uygur and Granholm's respective shows were used as bookends surrounding "Countdown," the show hosted by Current TV's former Chief News Officer, Keith Olbermann. The network is currently embroiled in a nasty lawsuit with its former star talent, after Olbermann sued Current TV for unlawful termination. The network countersued days after Olbermann filed his suit in April.
