With torrential rains pouring down and thunder cracks drowning out the roar of the fans in the stands of Donbass Arena in Donetsk, referees suspended the France-Ukraine match just moments after it started on Friday.

Fans who had settled in the front rows of the stadium rushed to the back in search of cover. But many opted to enjoy the suddenly inclement atmosphere -- some even dancing in the rain. The Group D match was suspended for a full 55 minutes. After the rain and lightning subsided, France would defeat Ukraine.

The disruption, however, provided an opportunity for a few beautiful photos of the sky in turmoil. Check out the collection of mesmerizing photos from the storm.
