Obama Registry: President Asks Couples To Set Up Wedding Registries With His Campaign

Obama's Weird Request Of Wedding Guests

What do you register for if you're the couple who already has it all?

How about a campaign donation?

President Obama's campaign recently set up an event registry, where spouses-to-be can ask their wedding guests for a political donation instead of gifts, reports the "Today Show."

Obama's campaign site says the registry can be used for everything from bar mitzvahs to birthdays to Big Days, and allows registrants to set up their own webpages on the site to explain their event to well-wishers.

The announcement sparked a string of jokes from late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who called the event registry a "great way for cheap people to lie about getting you a present."

The news also created a storm of overwhelmingly negative comments on Twitter. Click through the slideshow below to see some reactions to President Obama's registry.
