Pool Wedding: Childhood Sweethearts To Marry At Pool Where They Met At Age 8

Couple's Love Story Guaranteed To Make You Say 'Aww'

Matthew Leger and Celia Rodrigues met while taking swimming lessons when they were eight years old. Sixteen years later, their love is still afloat.

The Quebec, Canada couple started dating around age 11, but Rodrigues broke off the relationship at 13. The couple then went on a 10-year hiatus, according to The West Island Gazette.

"It broke my heart," Leger told The Gazette. "It took me 10 years to get her back."

The couple, now both 24-years-old, reconnected while attending the same university. Rodrigues bumped into Leger's mother on campus, who began talking about her son's activity on the water polo team. Rodrigues was interested in joining, so Leger's mother told her son to call Rodrigues.

Leger proposed after their rekindled friendship turned into a romantic relationship, and the two are set to tie the knot this August. The pair plans to marry at the Versailles swimming pool in Pierrefonds, Quebec where they first met.

Though it's rare, childhood crushes sometimes do stand the test of time. In May, British rocker Tom Fletcher married his childhood sweetheart, and on New Year's Eve, NBA all-star LeBron James popped the question to his longtime love, high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson.
