CNN Apologizes For Playing 'Only The Good Die Young' After Segment On Wisconsin Shootings

WATCH: CNN Apologizes For Mortifying Song Choice

CNN was forced on Monday to apologize once more for its choice of on-air music after playing Billy Joel's "Only The Good Die Young" after a segment about the shootings in Wisconsin.

The network, which ran into trouble after playing Pink's "Stupid Girls" at the start of a segment about Sarah Palin last week, made a similar mistake on Monday during its morning show, "Starting Point."

"Starting Point" lets its guests choose some of the songs that will play when the show comes back after a commercial break. Unfortunately, guest Hank Sheinkopf's choice of the Joel song played after a long discussion about the shootings, which killed six members of a Sikh temple.

Even worse was the specific portion of the song the network played:

Well they showed you a statue, told you to pray/They built you a temple and locked you away/Ah but they never told you the price that you pay/For the things that you might have done/Only the good die young

CNN issued a statement to the media about the incident:

"We aired a song from our guest's playlist on the morning show, which aired following a three-minute commercial break and before a segment on presidential politics, unrelated to the Wisconsin shooting. Given the news of the day, this was regrettable and we apologize to our viewers."
