'American Gypsies': Brothers Brawl Over A Non-Gypsy Doctor Trying To Save Their Dad (VIDEO)

'American Gypsies' Brothers Fight Over How To Save Dad's Life

With their father's life on the line, the Johns brothers came to physical blows in the hospital on "American Gypsies" (Tue., 9 p.m .ET on National Geographic). The family follows a strict structure of command and authority, starting with their ailing father, and then down the line of sons from eldest to youngest.

Son No. 3 (Nicky) didn't like the idea of the doctor performing what he said was an essential surgery to save their father's life because the doctor was not a gypsy. But it was not a unanimous opinion within the family.

So when his mother and brother Bobby tried to sign the papers, Nicky lost it. Nicky's argument was that Bobby is only Son No. 2, so he has no right to sign any papers having to do with the care of their father. That fell to their eldest brother, Eric.

The remaining brothers were able to stop the fighting and their mother signed the papers. As anticipated, the surgery saved their father's life, despite the doctor's lack-of-gypsy.

Tune in to new episodes of "American Gypsies" every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on National Geographic.
