Kevin Hart MTV VMA Host: Comedian Announces Hosting Gig With Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Video

WATCH: Kevin Hart Joins Kimye For MTV VMAs

Kevin Hart is the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards host, and to celebrate the honor he paired with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for a new promo video.

In the clip, which you can watch above, Hart comes up with nicknames for the trio ("I'm talking about Kevye Kim," he says, proudly) much to the disdain of West and Kardashian. (You can understand their joint disinterest as they've just come from the gym.)

Hart appeared on the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, but wasn't considered the host despite performing a monologue during the telecast. The comic has enjoyed a breakout calendar year: Hart's concert documentary "Laugh at My Pain," released last September, earned almost $8 million despite a limited release, and he's appeared in Hollywood films like "The Five-Year Engagement" and "Think Like a Man." Hart also booked a role opposite Seth Rogen in an untitled buddy cop comedy.

Meanwhile, Kardashian and West have become one of the summer's It-Couples; West even recently revealed that he wrote a song about his girlfriend. The title is "Perfect B---h."

The MTV Video Music Awards air on Sept. 6. Alicia Keys and One Direction are scheduled to perform.
