Woodstock Anniversary: The Best Beauty And Style Moments From 1969's Best Festival (PHOTOS)

Before The Hipsters, There Were Hippies

Before there was Lollapalooza, Coachella and Glastonbury, there was Woodstock. Basically the OG muddy music festival.

The 1969 event was undoubtedly one of the most formative moments in music history, but as we've learned with most music festivals, they lend themselves to some pretty awesome style-spotting. Long before the concept of street style or even festival style existed, Woodstock showcased inspiring women wearing sweet bell bottoms, crop tops and knit dresses. Over 40 years later, we still love the free-spirited, devil-may-care attitude these ladies possess, and we can't but help take notes on their equally untamed, often center-parted hair. Wearing heavy makeup wasn't a focus either, unless we're talking face paint.

To celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the famed music festival, which took place from August 15-17, we're taking a moment to appreciate the original foremothers of bohemian style.
