Defensive tackle Marvin Austin has a back issue that sent him into Manhattan to get checked out. Left tackle Will Beatty came into camp with an achy back and said sleeping on the mattresses in the dorms at the University at Albany didn't help at all.

Linval Joseph, a 6-foot-4, 323-pound defensive tackle, said he believes he knows what the problem is.
