She may have several chart-topping albums under her belt, but Britney Spears gets her career advice from a 20 year old.

"She toughens me up!" Spears told TV Guide. "Sometimes I listen to [her] and I'm like, 'Oh, God, I've got be a little stronger.'"

"I really feel like being the first young judge on any of these vocal competition shows is a lot of pressure, but at the same time, it's great because I get to bring in a perspective from the audience that's around my age," Lovato said to TV Guide. "But I know how hard people have to work to get to where they want to be, and I can spot somebody who has talent and who's memorable and could be a pop star ... I'm tough and I'm fair."

While Spears fancies herself an easy judge, Simon Cowell disagrees. At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Cowell said Spears' judging style was "quite mean."

"[Britney and Demi] definitely got their own opinions, but that’s why we hired them," he elaborated. "The fact that [Britney's] been successful for so many years is a testament to her star power, and Demi, I've thought for the last couple years is one of the hottest new artists around around at the moment. So I have to, unfortunately, agree with them some of the time."
