Yesterday, 21-year-old Pattarawan Panitcha was crowned winner of Miss Wheelchair Thailand.

Organized by the Association of the Physically Handicapped of Thailand, the pageant is currently in its 10th year.

"I am very thrilled and excited that the judges gave me the opportunity to be Miss Wheelchair Thailand .. I would like to be the voice for all the disabled people to step out and face the real world," Panitcha told the Bangkok Post.

Panitcha lost her mobility five years ago after a car accident. Soon after, she made it her life's goal to promote the rights of the disabled.

According to the Associated Press, Praewpichaya Ekbowornwong was crowned first runner-up and Chinchutha Junwatee was crowned second runner-up.
