Miley Cyrus 'Lilac Wine': Singer Releases Cover Of James Shelton's 1950s Classic (WATCH)

Miley Blows Critics Away With Stunning Cover (WATCH)

Miley Cyrus's many critics love to comment on everything she does -- including her hair cut, weight loss, bold fashion choices, love life and career moves. But the singer silenced her nay-sayers last week with a soulful new cover of James Shelton's 1950 classic "Lilac Wine" that proves just how talented she really is.

We'd venture to say it's one of the best covers we've heard from a young star since Ariana Grande's breathtaking rendition of "Die In Your Arms" -- and we're not the only ones who are impressed. The Miami New Times said the cover was "well beyond [Miley's] young years," and MTV gushed, "Miley, you NAILED IT! We will absolutely never doubt you again."

The above video was recorded in her YouTube series, "The Backyard Sessions," uploaded last Thursday. The track reminds us of another gorgeous acoustic cover she released this year of Bob Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go." Fans of Miley's bun will also be pleased to see her signature top knot making a comeback.

As usual, Miley took to Twitter to thank her fans for the support.

And to the delight of Smilers everywhere, Miley also tweeted on Thursday to confirm that a new single was on the way before the end of the year. As one devoted fan reacted, "AHSGDKGHGJ I'M SO EXCITED!!"
