There few things in this world more invigorating than kayaking across the San Francisco Bay.
The ocean breeze flowing through your hair, panoramic vistas framed by the Golden Gate Bridge on one side and the iconic San Francisco skyline on the other.
And, of course, MC Hammer standing on a barge handing you free grilled cheese sandwiches.

Yes, it may sound like what happens in a dream right before you realize you're naked, all your teeth have fallen out and you haven't studied for your Biology midterm. But for a lucky handful of San Francisco seafarers, it became a reality on Sunday when the hip-hop legend hopped a boat anchored right off the city's waterfront and passed out sandwiches to the scores of kayakers who swarmed like a flock of hungry seagulls.

This nautical distribution of cheese and bread was masterminded by rapidly expanding sandwich chain The Melt as part of a promotional campaign announcing the launch of its new fleet of food trucks.
The publicity stunt, which easily ranks as one of the most bizarrely awesome ones we've seen in a long while, happened in McCovey Cove, the inlet of the San Francisco Bay just past the right field wall of AT&T Park, during Sunday's Giants-Dodgers game.
Even when Grammy award-winning rappers aren’t handing out free food, McCovey Cove is a hotspot for boaters hoping to catch home run balls that fly out of the stadium and into the bay.
MC Hammer's presence, on the other hand, isn't quite as out of the blue as it may seem at first glance. While his platinum-selling days are behind him, Hammer has become a fixture on the Bay Area social scene. For example, here's a picture of him sitting between AOL CEO Tim Armstrong and politically influential angel investor Ron Conway at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference on Tuesday.
(AOL is the parent company of The Huffington Post).
In a comment on an SFist blog post about the rapper, essential Twitterati Patrick Conners joked, "He is going to be our next Mayor. Isn't that wonderful. After that - governor. That's all it takes in CA."
In addition to handing out sandwiches, Hammer served as the boat's DJ.
