Blind Kitten, Skunky, Rescued By Good Samaritan On Vacation (PHOTOS)

Four years ago reddit user Mantees was on vacation in the south of Italy, when he came across a tiny kitten crying in the grass. He decided to take care of the cat while on holiday.

"Her legs were clearly not okay, the mouth was also asymmetrical and impossible to close, probably because of a trauma, but the worst news still had to come," Mantees described finding the kitten on

A visit to the vet the next day revealed that the small kitten's eyes were closed not only because she was still very young, but also that an infection had already eaten away both eyeballs. It was unlikely that she would survive.

Mantees, however, did not give up on the kitten, whom he'd dubbed Skunky.

He meticulously cared for Skunky's eyes infection, ear infection, intestine worms and fever, while keeping her warm and feeding her powdered milk every four hours. He also taught her to follow the sound of his steps.

Fifteen days later, his vacation was over, but he refused to leave Skunky behind. Mantees rearranged his travel plans so that he could bring the kitten home with him.

Now, four years since the holiday, Skunky still lives with her rescuer.

"What Skunky gives to me everyday is worth 10 times more what I might do for her" he said of their friendship.
