Chad Johnson's 41-day marriage to Evelyn Lozada is officially over as their divorce was finalized Wednesday morning, Lozada's lawyer confirmed to People.

Although Johnson reportedly refused to participate in the divorce proceedings, attorney Michael Gilden said the divorce became official "in an uncontested final hearing." Lozada filed for divorce following Johnson's arrest over a domestic dispute in which he allegedly head-butted her.

TMZ first reported the divorce becoming official.

Following his arrest, Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin cut the veteran receiver. The awkward meeting between the two was shown on HBO's "Hard Knocks."

Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco, laid low for a little while, changing the profile photo on his Twitter page to an image of a highway sign that says "Rock: Hard Place."

When he got back to social media, Johnson's tweets had a more melancholy tone than his followers were accustomed to, as he wrote about not finding himself in the new Madden video game and talking to his daughters about being unemployed.

In early September, Johnson was said to have a tattoo of Lozada's face on his right leg. When one of his Twitter followers asked about the tattoo and the divorce, Johnson responded writing "Divorce?"

After tweeting that he was catching a flight to Philadelphia, speculation arose that he was possibly working out for the Eagles. That notion was quickly quashed by an Eagles team source that spoke with CSNPhilly.

Is Johnson's NFL career as officially over as his marriage to Lozada?
