'The Voice': Competition Between Coaches So Intense Blake Shelton Lies About Christina Aguilera (VIDEO)

'The Voice': 'Desperate' Blake Lies About Christina

The competition between the coaches on "The Voice" has gotten so serious that Blake Shelton has resorted to lying. On the latest installment of the Blind Auditions, Shelton failed to secure any new additions to his team.

Shelton was pulling out all the stops, and admitted he was getting desperate. And thus the lie about fellow coach Christina Aguilera.

"Christina has been known to be abusive," he told one hopeful. "Gets in their head. There have been people that quit singing just after they met her."

He admitted on-camera that it was a lie, and it didn't work anyway. The singer chose Aguilera. As the New York Daily News notes, maybe this was the prelude to a much more aggressive Blake Shelton in future episodes.

"If Tuesday night’s ‘The Voice’ episode was a classic western film, Blake Shelton would’ve been fitted for a black cowboy hat," wrote the reviewer for the NY Daily News. Shelton admitted he's going to have to up his game.

Find out as "The Voice" continues on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
