Katie Holmes: Tom Cruise Divorce 'Has Been Hard On Suri' (REPORT)

It may have been a tough summer for newly divorced couple Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, but no one was affected more by the split than the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri, who has allegedly been struggling with her new lifestyle.

Reportedly, Holmes has been telling friends that Suri isn't adjusting as well as she hoped with the big move and living situation in NYC, which doesn't include daddy Tom.

"She said the divorce has been hard on Suri and she's acting out," a Holmes pal tells Us Weekly. But despite the temper tantrums, the actress, 33, is trying her best to remain strong and not give in to her daughter's demands. "Katie says no to some things, but gives a little leeway. She knows Tom is going to spoil her."

Which is what he did the last time he saw Suri on August 2. The "Mission:Impossible" star took his youngest daughter on a lavish vacation to Disney World, as well as a $6,000 helicopter ride to the Hamptons. But when it comes to mommy time, Holmes isn't spoiling Suri with luxurious gifts and expensive excursions.

In a recent interview with Women's Wear Daily, the star of "The Kennedys" revealed that she's trying to give Suri the most normal childhood possible.

"I spray-paint shoe racks, because, why not?" Holmes explained of arts and crafts projects she does with Suri. "[Sometimes] I think, 'Oh, I'm a great mom' -- and then it doesn't really pan out the way I think it's going to. But the intention's there. I've always painted and done crafts at home -- I have to stay creative in every aspect [of my life]. My sister teaches art, and she gives me a lot of ideas."

And another insider tells Us Weekly Holmes will continue to come up with unique ideas in order to give Suri the best life possible. "She wants [her] to fit in and be more of a normal kid."
