Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski had a big reason to celebrate on Friday.

The day was the five-year anniversary of "Morning Joe." Mayor Bloomberg showed up to declare it "Morning Joe Day" in New York City, and present the show with a proclamation from the Mayor's Office of New York City.

He praised the show for "breaking the mold" in a "cable news environment defined by partisan warfare." Brzezinski happily accepted the proclamation.

The show rolled tape of its very first episode in 2007, when Bloomberg cut the ribbon on set. Backstage Friday, he joked, "Fifth anniversary? I don't think anybody thought you'd make the fifth day."
