'Life Of Pi' International Trailer: FIrst Look At Tobey Maguire Replacement Rafe Spall (VIDEO)

WATCH: New Look At 'Life Of Pi' Highlights Tobey Maguire's Replacement

With "Life of Pi" set to open New York Film Festival on Friday, a new international trailer for Ang Lee's adaptation of Yann Martel's best-selling novel has appeared online.

The epic clip gives audiences a first chance to see the framing device Lee uses in the film, with Indian actor Irrfan Khan ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Slumdog Millionaire") telling his unbelievable story to a writer, played by Rafe Spall ("Prometheus"). As you might remember, Spall replaced Tobey Maguire in the role of the writer after Lee felt Maguire's fame was distracting.

"To be consistent with the other casting choices made for the film, I decided to go with an entirely international cast," Lee said in a statement about the decision earlier in September. "I very much admire Tobey and look forward to working with him again in the future."

"Life of Pi" opens in theaters on Nov. 21. The 3D film is a Twentieth Century Fox release. Check out the international trailer above.
