Jenny McCarthy: 'Jesus Was My Justin Bieber'

Jenny McCarthy knows what it was like to have posters of her crushes covering her bedroom wall as a teen. The thing is, her celebrity crush wasn't actually a Hollywood star ... it was Jesus.

In her new book, “Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic,” the 39-year-old TV host and former Playboy playmate discusses her religious upbringing and reveals: "Jesus was my Bieber."

The Chicago native confessed on "Good Morning America" that she attended church at least twice a week, admitting she wanted to be a nun.

“We went to the convent one day, my mom is a hairdresser and was doing their perms, and we opened the door and saw what they looked like in common folk clothing. And had a conversation with them about what I wanted to be when I grew up which was a mom and a nun, and they told me that wasn’t possible, so I knew that wasn’t my destiny," she explained of her decision to pass on being a nun. "I had to take off the habit and put on my push-up bra.”

And while McCarthy took ABC's JuJu Chang on a tour of her former home, she showed the host her childhood bedroom, saying, “I had a Jesus poster, the Pope was over there, I had some ‘I love Jesus’ T-shirts and bags hanging up. Jesus was my Bieber.”

But McCarthy always knew her version of Bieber Fever was different from the typical teen's. She revealed her mother would never allow her to hang up any photograph or poster that wasn't of Jesus. “My mom wouldn’t let us have Fonzie posters on the wall growing up so I was stuck with Jesus, so I couldn’t help but have a crush on him," she told "GMA," adding that when she kissed a boy for the first time, she covered up her Jesus poster.

“I cut out a picture of Cyndi Lauper and pasted her picture over Jesus," McCarthy jokes. "Thanks Cyndi.”
