Now that the weather is finally cooling off by Florida standards -- is another degree or two too much to ask for? -- head outside for free weekly movie nights!
Miami Beach's SoundScape Cinema Series is back in full swing, with free films screened on a 7,000-square-foot exterior wall at the New World Center every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. through May. When the first screening gets underway tonight, families and comic book nerds alike will enjoy "The Avengers" sitting on the lawn of the futuristic SoundScape park, which boasts one of the most high-tech outdoor audio systems in the world.
Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, drinks, snacks, and even dogs to the movies to make themselves at home. Before each screening starts, take a walk through the 2.5 acres of urban space filled with flowering vines tumbling from amorphous planters, trees with sprawling branches, majestic palms, and unique sculptures -- the place won the 2012 AIA Institute Honor Award for Regional and Urban Design.
