'It Is A Great Loss For All Of Us'

The family of a mother and children slain in a brutal triple murder in Rancho Cordova, Calif., gave a press conference Thursday in which they spoke about their lost loved ones.

Denis Bukhantsov, husband of Alina Bukhantsov, and father of 3-year-old Emmanuela and 2-year-old Avenir, appeared on camera with his surviving son, 6-month-old Mark.

"I thank God for him," Bukhantsov said of his infant son, while holding the baby in his lap. "I have someone to live for. I will try to take care of him best I can. She was a great mom."

Bukhantsov arrived home on Tuesday to discover the bodies of his wife and children. His brother, Grigoriy Bukhantsov, a 19-year-old high school drop-out who has served jail time for felony burglary, was arrested in connection with the murders Wednesday. Police said he is their only suspect in the case.

Speaking of his wife, Bukhantsov, who appeared still visibly shaken by the tragic events, called Alina his best friend, and spoke of her love of children. Bukhantsov said he and his wife had planned on having more kids.

"I can say many good words about her... but it's not going to change anything. It is a great loss for me, for all of us," Bukhantsov said.

Bukhantsov was joined at the conference by 12 family members, along with a Slavic community leader and the pastor of his church.

Spokesman Jim Barnes of the Sacramento County sheriff department said that a memorial fund has been set up to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

Bukhantsov said that his family had tried to help his brother, who he indicated had been sleeping on the streets, by offering him a place to stay. CBS Sacramento reports the family had previously helped the 19-year-old when he got out of jail on probation.
