The Denver FilmCenter/Colfax will soon be renamed the Anna Sie and John J. Sie FilmCenter, after it was announced during the festival's opening night that Denver residents John Sie and his wife Anna would be giving $2.5 million to the Denver Film Society through their foundation.

Among the more exciting events to come with this year's festival are the awards.

This year, timeless Alfred Hitchcock-favorite Tippi Hedren will be welcomed in Denver and receive the Mayor's Award for Career Achievement and there will be a special screening of their classic film "The Birds."

"We're honored and delighted to be presenting Tippi Hedren with the Mayor's Career Achievement Award," said Artistic Director, Brit Withey. "Having her in person with such a seminal film in which her performance is unforgettable is truly a treat."

Hedren will be presented with her award on November 10, the closing night of the festival, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at 8 p.m.
