'Hell On Wheels' Season 3 On Hold, AMC Searching For New Showrunners

'Hell On Wheels' Season 3 On Hold

"Hell On Wheels" Season 3 is on hold.

AMC recently renewed the period drama starring Anson Mount and Common, but plans for the new season are now on hold as the network searches for a new showrunner, according to Entertainment Weekly. "The X-Files" veteran John Shiban stepped down as showrunner after AMC renewed the series, prompting the show to go into limbo until a replacement can be found.

“I’m very proud of our work on 'Hell on Wheels' and was thrilled to hear the show would have a Season 3,” Shiban said in a statement via EW. “I have since made the difficult decision that the time has come for me to leave. I care deeply about the series and will do whatever I can to aid in the transition to ensure the continued success of the show. I truly value all the time I have spent with this wonderful group of very talented people.”

News AMC renewed "Hell On Wheels" for a Season 3 first brok on October 29.
