Mississippi Election 2012: Mitt Romney, Roger Wicker Set To Score Wins (LIVE UPDATES)

Romney, Wicker Set To Score Wins In Mississippi Election

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is poised to secure 6 electoral votes in the Mississippi election, and incumbent GOP Sen. Roger Wicker is set to win another term in the U.S. Senate.

A Romney victory over Barack Obama in the Magnolia State is all but certain. The president lost Mississippi to then-presidential contender John McCain in 2008.

Wicker is being challenged by Democrat Albert N. Gore Jr. CNN reported in September:

Colonel Gore has never met the former vice president, whom he calls a distant relative, but says the two served in Vietnam at the same time.

"He's a good man. Honest. And he should have been president," he said.

Voters in Mississippi can cast ballots at the polls between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Central time.
