Democrat Richard Carmona came up short in his campaign for U.S. Senate in Arizona on Tuesday night.
Carmona lost the contest to Republican Rep. Jeff Flake, who will now go on to fill the seat currently held by GOP Sen. Jon Kyl. With 99 percent of the ballots tallied, Flake had 50.4 percent of the vote while Carmona had just 45.2 percent.
Democrats managed retain control of the upper congressional chamber on Tuesday night, while Republicans will stay in charge in the House of Representatives.
