'Fifty Shades Of Grey,' The Musicals, Arrive In Chicago

Good news, fans of soft-core "porn" author E.L. James! James' mega-bestseller and movie-to-be "Fifty Shades of Grey" has inspired not just one, but two musical parodies debuting this month in Chicago.

This weekend, "50 Shades! The Musical," created by Chicago-based comedy ensemble Baby Wants Candy, debuted at the Apollo Theater, 2540 N. Lincoln Ave. Featuring original songs such as “They Get Nasty" and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me," the show will continue with performances on Nov. 23, 30, Dec. 7 and 14.

The show will also enjoy a one-weekend-only run at Skokie's North Shore Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 23 and 24.

Meanwhile, Chicago will also play home to a three-week engagement of "SPANK! The Fifty Shades Parody," beginning Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Royal George Theatre Main Stage, 1641 N. Halsted. The touring show was written and directed by Jim Millan, whose credits include "The Kids In The Hall," and is being described as a "a laugh-filled evening" that is "part 'SNL,' part Chippendale’s."

Tickets for "SPANK!" are available here, "50 Shades" here.
