'Twilight' Wedding: Fan Plans To Wed Cardboard Cullen (VIDEO)

Wedding Bells?

Wish you could be Mrs. Cullen? One 24-year-old woman sure does. She's planning to make Edward Cullen her husband... sort of.

Lauren Adkins, a University of Las Vegas graduate student, will take a cardboard cutout of the "Twilight" character, portrayed by Robert Patinson, down the aisle of a Vegas wedding chapel on Jan. 26, 2013.

According to local news channel WMC-TV in Memphis, the marriage is part of Adkin's thesis exploring how the media shapes people's ideas of the perfect relationship.

The story was originally picked up by a British tabloid, which failed to mention the wedding was just performance art.

Adkins played along with the slip, feeding the UK Metro a fantastically humorous interview about her upcoming nupituals with the cardboard vamp: "I didn't ask him to marry me out loud, I didn't have to," said the art student. "I knew by his silence he'd said yes. Of course he'd say 'yes.'"

Cullen's appeal is no joke to Adkins, though. She is serious about examining the character's allure to women in her thesis.

"Edward Cullen represents an ideal many girls and women want of a protector: inhumanly handsome, supportive, and possessive," she said during an interview with WMC-TV.

The faux wedding will reportedly cost about $3,000 and be attended by invited guests.

If you don't have an invite, you can catch Edward Cullen in the character's final film appearance in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2," which opened in the U.S. on Nov. 16th and made $341 million in its first weekend.
