The Washington Wizards have played 12 games and haven't been able to win any of them. They've played so poorly that Charles Barkley refuses to call them the Wizards, instead referring to them as the Washington Generals. Even Andray Blatche, not exactly the paragon of competency, is taking shots at his former team from Brooklyn.
The Wizards' early-season woes may have been captured in this one embarrassing fail early in the first quarter against San Antonio on Monday night. With only Manu Ginobili back to defend for the Spurs as the Wiz embarked on a 3-on-1 fast break, Trevor Ariza received the ball at the elbow and attacked the basket.
But Ginobili suddenly got some unexpected defensive help.. from Wizards rookie Bradley Beal.
Beal found himself in between Ariza and Ginobili and failed to get out of the way. Ariza attempted to shove him out of the way, but with his momentum stalled, he ended up missing the short jumper.
