'Nashville': Rayna & Juliette Finally Perform Together

Rayna James originally nixed the idea of a double-billed tour with Juliette Barnes, and then Juliette's image was tarnished by her shoplifting incident. So now the label had two artists they were trying to figure out what to do with as their 25th anniversary was looming. And they came up with the idea of a duet on the latest "Nashville."

The label was having a bash for their silver anniversary, and they suggested the idea of Juliette performing with the legendary Rayna in order to improve her image. The only problem was that these two women absolutely despised one another.

Juliette, however, had no real choice. And the label thought they could get Rayna on board by threatening to release a greatest hits album, which would derail the "new sound" album she was developing. Instead, she finally got into the game and made a counter-proposal.

She proposed she would perform with Juliette to help the young star's image, and in exchange the label would put out her new album. And so suddenly the two stars had to share the stage. Unable to agree on a song, Rayna decided they would collaborate on one.

They closed the show with the song, which the label thought had all the makings of a huge hit. But if they think this means smooth sailing between the two performers, they've got another thing coming.

The music and drama continues every Wednesday on "Nashville," Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
