Chicago police apprehended an alleged serial bank robber who authorities said had a striking resemblance to a character on the HBO show "The Wire."
Cops and the FBI had been searching for the "Stringer Bell Bandit" whom they suspect of holding up -- or attempting to rob -- 11 banks in the city's downtown Loop since October, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Kenneth Anderson, 46, was taken into custody on Friday after allegedly returning to the scene of a robbery that took place last month, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Employees of the Fifth Third Bank thought Anderson looked like the thief who demanded cash from a teller on Nov. 2. Bank staff called police, and cops spotted him a few blocks away.
He allegedly had a note stuffed in his pocket that said "Hand over all the money now you have 20 seconds," according to the Chicago Tribune.
Anderson was taken into custody without incident by two officers riding bicycles, according to the FBI, and allegedly admitted to multiple other bank robberies when showed a map of recent incidents. However, he's only been charged with the Nov. 2 robbery, in which he made off with $2,300.
A judge ordered that he remain in custody today during a brief court appearance. He faces up to 20 years if convicted, the FBI said.
