'Nashville': Scarlett And Gunnar Kiss, Juliette Proposes And Will Rayna Get A Divorce? Creator Speaks

What's To Come On 'Nashville': Splits, Marriage & More

Note: Do not read on if you have not yet season Season 1, Episode 8 of ABC's "Nashville, titled "Where He Leads Me."

On this week's "Nashville," Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) finally kissed, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) proposed to Sean and Rayna (Connie Britton) and Teddy's (Eric Close) marriage suffered after Coleman (Robert Ray Wisdom) released pictures of the mayoral candidate and his business associate Peggy (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). Though we'll have to wait until January for more "Nashville," Callie Khouri, the ABC drama's creator and executive producer, teased what's to come after the midseason finale aired.

What's next for everyone's favorite song-writing duo?
"In the same way that Rayna and Juliette have this undeniable something together, so do Scarlett and Gunnar," Khouri told The Hollywood Reporter. "They each make up a strong aspect that they wouldn't have without the other one."

But it doesn't look like anything more than business is in store for Scarlett and Gunnar now, despite the kiss they shared in this week's episode. "I think she’s starting to feel stronger," Khouri told TVLine. She’s wanting to find herself right now and not be [trading] one relationship for another. She’s still got really strong feelings for Avery."

Will Juliette actually walk down the aisle?
Based on the promo for "Nashville's" return -- which you can watch below -- it looks like Sean (Tilky Jones) does accept Juliette's proposal, but she may get cold feet at the last minute. So why did she want to get married in the first place? "She’s desperately in search of some kind of security," Khouri told TVLine. "It’s probably the first time she’s experienced being with somebody who just wants to be with her for herself. As sad as that is, it’s incredibly compelling for her."

Are Teddy and Rayna doomed?
Though the midseason finale had Rayna standing by her man for the sake of their daughters (Lennon and Maisy Stella), she and Teddy may be headed for trouble. In the promo, it looks like Teddy fights with Rayna for the custody of their children. Could it really get that bad? "Teddy’s a troubled fellow who’s had a really serious and bad run of luck for several years now. I think that makes you do things sometimes that you wouldn’t do otherwise," Khouri told TVLine.

Did he lie about an affair? Is it possible he really did sleep with Peggy? "He’s made sure his life stayed complicated, let me put it like that," Khouri said cryptically.
